Network Model

The model was generated from a number of meetings and discussions with individual researchers who will be the users and contributors for the Network. The model is decentralized within the university members, yet remains open to all other research institutes within Quebec. The primary focus was to make the most effective use of the infrastructure and knowledge that exists today and build on this by using standards and provision of all satellite facilities.

The network has chosen two directives:
  • Research

This directive will target the establishment of multidisciplinary and multisectorial research partnerships that integrate the scientific activities and development priorities of all members.
  • Services

The primary focus is to evaluate and make the most effective use of the infrastructure and knowledge that exists today and improve on it by exploiting the expertise and provisions of satellite facilities. The different services and platforms for the generation and phenotyping of animal models which exist within the Universities/research institutes will be offered based on expertise, capacity and abilities of each facility.
Moreover, meetings/workshops focusing on key issues in transgenics, such as ethics, bioinformatics and new technologies associated with novel imaging procedures will also be part of our operations.
